Very tall large antique hardwood French armoire double wardrobe made around 1900 probably. Hard to say quite what the wood is: it looks a little like elm but I don't think it is. Possibly a fruitwood (easy catch-all for French stuff..). A nice medium light, warm colour though. Two doors open on to a hanging space with rail and a shelf above. Plinth below which is actually a drawer. Cornice above. Working lock and key. The whole thing pretty much flat packs, coming apart with just six bolts and two screws. Deep enough for a coat hanger with a little bit of extra: perhaps not ideal for thick jackets etc. Condition is pretty good structurally: it's solid and sound with negligible movement despite being bolted together. Slight bowing to the cornice. We've played around with the doors to get them to work nicely: some spacers on the pole hinges; some sanding in unseen areas where they rubbed; all seems good now. These pieces can be a bit fiddly to assemble (especially by one person!) but I'll provide instructions. Cosmetically there are a few dings, marks and scuffs etc, and some score marks on the right door and left side (see pics). Grooves in the door frame where careless screws had been put in (sorted now). A few woodworm holes here and there, not current but we've treated it anyway. 153cm x 64cm x 233cm high
